What lead Bethany to her career in mental health counseling?

Bethany has a background in elementary education and was drawn to the field of mental health through a deep desire to support others in navigating life’s challenges and discovering their inner resilience.  This passion led her to pursue a Master of Social Work degree, where she has found a natural fit in helping others heal, grow, and thrive. Her educational journey has been guided by a commitment to fostering emotional well-being and promoting compassionate care in all areas of life.

What work experience and populations does Bethany serve?

Bethany has direct experience working with individuals facing substance use challenges, treating domestic violence offenders, and providing education for those struggling with anger management.  Her compassionate and nonjudgmental approach helps create a safe space for clients to explore their experiences, build resilience, and move toward lasting change.  With a background in education, she also brings extensive experience working with children.  In addition, her experience as a mother offers a meaningful perspective that allows her to connect with and relate to many of the clients she serves.

Bethany has received training in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed care.  She is especially interested in anxiety, trauma, women’s mental health issues, spiritual/religious issues/faith transitions, mindfulness, childhood issues, and perfectionism.  Her clinical training is grounded in a culturally sensitive framework, allowing her to meet clients where they are and provide care that is both affirming and effective.

What areas does Bethany specialize in?

Bethany enjoys working with individuals across a range of ages and backgrounds, with a particular interest in supporting women, young adults, and individuals facing life transitions.  Bethany has experience in both individual and group settings, and particularly enjoys helping clients develop self-awareness, manage anxiety, and enhance their relationships.  Her empathetic and collaborative style has made her a trusted resource for those navigating complex emotional experiences.

What techniques do I use to achieve my own positive mental health?

To maintain my own mental health, I prioritize balance and self-care in my daily life.  I find that taking time to disconnect, go for a walk, or spend time outdoors helps me stay grounded and present.  I also try to practice mindfulness, maintain a strong support system, and be intentional about rest and reflection.

My hobbies, interests, and fun facts about me:

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, going for walks, and spending time with my family.  I enjoy spending time outdoors (especially when the weather is nice!), and love finding moments of calm and connection in nature.  These simple activities help me stay grounded and bring balance to my life.

My therapeutic approach and philosophy:

“I believe that therapy is a collaborative and empowering process.  My approach is client-centered, holistic, and grounded in empathy, curiosity, and respect.  I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard and valued.  I take into account the whole person – their emotional, physical, social, and spiritual well-being – and work alongside clients to understand patterns, build strengths, and create meaningful change.  I view each client as the expert of their own story, and I’m honored to walk with them on their journey toward healing and self-discovery.”
