What led Dani to her career in mental health counseling?

Dani has always had a passion for mental health and helping those in need.  After the birth of her twins, she experienced postpartum depression and anxiety for several years. Through hard work in therapy, she was able to heal and create a life she truly values.  This experience deepened her compassion for others and strengthened her passion for mental health.  It ultimately led Dani to return to graduate school in her 30’s to pursue further education and training so she could support and empower others on their own healing journeys.

What work experience and populations does Dani serve?

Dani’s previous work experience primarily includes performing harp music for weddings, special events, and music therapy settings.  A particularly meaningful highlight was the opportunity to perform a duet with her musical idol, Lindsey Stirling, a few years ago.  Music has been a powerful part of Dani’s own healing journey, allowing her to feel, process, and express emotions in unique and meaningful ways.

The populations Dani most enjoys working with are adolescents, particularly as they navigate identity formation.  She believes this stage of life is crucial in creating a strong foundation for adulthood.  Dani also enjoys working with adult women as they find empowerment to build lives that feel authentic to them, especially while navigating the complexities of motherhood.  In addition, she has experience supporting individuals who are going through faith transitions and the many personal transformations that often accompany that process.

What areas does Dani specialize in?

Dani’s school training is in marriage and family systems which focuses on how to increase functioning and happiness within the family.  That being said, she has training in working with families and couples as well as with individuals.  She likes to focus on attachments and how patterns learned in childhood affect the way we build relationships with those around us.

What techniques do I use to achieve my own positive mental health?

I love to focus on my personal mental health and believe that’s one of the most important parts of life!  I love to exercise and play sports (right now it’s pickleball), eat a bowl of chocolate ice cream at the end of a long day, being with family, and spend time outside in nature.  I also really believe in whatever I’m surrounded by.

My hobbies, interests, and fun facts about me:

I really enjoy game nights with family and friends, playing pickleball and distance running.  I also enjoy playing the harp, skiing, and camping.  I love working hard and being out in the sunshine.

My therapeutic approach and philosophy:

“I believe that everyone deserves a space to feel heard and supported.  Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or postpartum challenges.  Maybe you’re relationships feel distant or overwhelming, or you’re facing a transition that leaves you unsure of your next steps.  You want clarity, healing, and stronger connections – and therapy can help you get there.  I feel strongly about helping people to connect to their authentic self and that being more aware of our inner experiences and stories can bring change and resolution to life’s difficulties.”
