Jane has a BA and a Master In Social Work. To obtain her master’s degree, she drove an hour and a half each way three evenings a week for two years. She says it was grueling and totally worth it. Jane truly believes she has been a Social Worker “invitero” all her life. She has always been Interested In helping others find a way to be the best they can be. She became a counselor several years ago when the opportunity literally came knocking at her door. She thought and prayed about It and knew this was her next career.
Jane has worked In various social work sectors with Head Start, pregnant teenagers, the elderly, hospice, physically handicapped, disabled, memory care, and nursing home Medicaid eligibility. She especially loves working with the elderly.
Jane practices strength-based, solution-based, mindfulness, relaxation, DBT, and ACT methods and modalities. She believes using client’s strengths gives them the best avenue for success.
I believe you must know yourself well enough to know when you need to take advantage of self-care. I like yoga, deep breathing, relaxation, and meditation to give my mind and body the break they need to recharge.
I love to read, and watch movies, I get lost In the story. I was adopted from birth and finally found my birth family five years ago or so. We lived within miles of each other. I am sure we crossed paths on numerous occasions not knowing we were related. I love spending time with my husband and two adult children.
I believe every client has strengths. I want to help them find what works for them to help them be their best self. I want them to know I believe In them. I want them to know their past, their traumas, their current hardships do not define who they are or who they can be. I want to flip their script, and rewrite their story to help them be successful, to find the peace they are seeking and the joy they desire.
