Jessi’s love for helping others reach their full potential first started during her teenage years while watching her mom pursue her own mental health career. Jessi decided to follow in her footsteps and began by receiving her bachelor’s in social work at Weber State University, where she spent time interning at McKay-Dee Hospital in their NICU unit. Following her bachelor’s degree, Jessi jumped into her Master of Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University. Here, she learned a variety of trauma-informed skills through her internship at Child Crisis Arizona.
Jessi gained an array of experience through working in community mental health, medical, psychiatric, individual, and group therapy settings. Jessi found her niche working as a mental health therapist in private practice via telehealth. Clients often seek her aid when faced with life challenges such as life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, managing stress, and other mental health issues.
Jessi is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and has a background in trauma-focused play therapy. Other areas of specialty include working with survivors of abuse, those who struggle with anxiety, childhood issues, mood disorders, general issues, relationship issues, teen issues, as well as trauma.
Learning to set healthy boundaries in all areas of my life creates greater balance and flow for me. This improves my overall mental health and provides me with more fulfilling relationships. I practice self-care daily. I challenge myself to learn and grow while being content with the life I have.
In my free time, you can usually find me snuggled up on the couch with my dogs reading. I also enjoy experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, experiencing new places in the world, and exploring new artistic techniques.
Coming from a strength perspective and trauma-informed background, I focus on empowering my clients to better manage their lives and situations. Using a mix of experiential and narrative methods, we work together to identify obstacles, develop new coping strategies, and create pathways forward. Let’s work together to rediscover your value and embrace your journey.
