Having earned her bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies with minors in Addiction Studies and Psychology from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, she is currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. Her profound curiosity about the complexities of human thought and behavior sparked her journey into counseling, seeking to understand why individuals think and act as they do. This passion drives her commitment to helping clients navigate life’s challenges with empathy and insight.
With over eight years of experience in substance use disorder treatment, she has recently transitioned her focus to encompass mental health counseling. Her commitment to assisting individuals grappling with both substance use disorders and mental health challenges stems from a passion for holistic well-being. Her empathetic approach and unique perspective, influenced by her 4-foot-11-inch stature, inspire her dedication to working with diverse populations aged 6 and up.
She holds a license as an Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor and has received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing and Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT). Her practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. Her expertise lies in integrating these modalities to support clients effectively in their journey toward personal growth and recovery.
To maintain my own positive mental health, I prioritize regular personal therapy sessions. Additionally, I find great joy and relaxation in spending quality time with my family and pets, which includes four dogs, three cats, and a hedgehog. These activities help me recharge and maintain a healthy balance in my life.
In my free time, I cherish moments with my family, exploring new destinations through travel, and diving into captivating books. One of our favorite weekend rituals is playing a ghost-hunting computer game together. Two years ago, I relocated to Utah after living in Minnesota for four years, where I encountered memorable experiences like visiting the Mall of America and unexpectedly witnessing a June blizzard.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy, complemented by elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. I view therapy as a collaborative journey where you are the navigator of your own path. My role is to provide compassionate guidance and support, helping you achieve your desired goals and find fulfillment in your life.
