Is Meleiana Jolley accepting new patients?
Before returning for a Master’s in Social Work, Meleiana had spent years working in the field of finance, particularly with those planning and saving for retirement. It was then that she discovered she enjoyed working with people and looking for ways to support their goals. She became curious about relationships, those with ourselves and with others, and began to think about joy and having a joy-filled life. After some life challenges for her and some loved ones who benefited from therapeutic support, she decided to change paths to one focused on supporting mental health.
Meleiana has experience working with people of all ages. She has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children and adolescents in foster care, advocating for them as they transition back home or are adopted. She’s also worked as a school social worker at Nuames High School, helping teens as they navigate young adulthood, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, perfectionism, and family and relationship difficulties. She has worked with and advocated for people experiencing domestic violence as a volunteer for Safe Harbor. More recently with Gold Counseling, Meleiana has appreciated the opportunity to work with members of the armed forces and couples navigating relationship difficulties.
Meleiana specializes in working with anxiety and depression difficulties, life transitions, trauma, and relationships and has trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness interventions including breathwork, and utilizes the Gottman Method and Emotion Focused Therapy in couples and relationship work.
I use a variety of physical, solitary, and social means of maintaining my mental health and I’ve learned that I need that diversity to stay well. I am Hawaiian and my happy place has always been at the beach -which is a little difficult in Utah- but the beautiful mountains are helpful. Much of my physical techniques for wellness involve being outside hiking, camping, mountain biking, or running. My solitary activities include reading and meditating. Spending time with my spouse, family, and friends is also imperative for feeling my best.
I love going to the gym, practicing yoga, and seeking out new restaurants. I am ambidextrous and can use chopsticks with my right or left hands. I read fast and sometimes read out loud to myself to increase comprehension and slow myself down to enjoy the moment. I believe that laughter is good medicine and try to look for opportunities for humor and not take myself too seriously.
Life is often messy and complicated and it’s easy to get lost living it. I believe we are all unique individuals on a journey to become the best versions of ourselves. I want to support you as you find your way and as you work to discover what that means for you!
