What led Tiffany to her career in counseling?

Tiffany completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Boise State University. After working for a few years, she later completed a Master’s degree in Social Work from Walden University.

What work experience and populations does Tiffany serve?

Tiffany has worked with the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team and the Crisis/Suicide Hotline to assist clients in all crises. She has experience working with children, youth, and adults who have severe mental illnesses while at Huntsman Mental Health Institute.

Tiffany has experience completing counseling for federal clients who were on parole for gang-related crimes, substance/intent to sell crimes, bank robbery/fraud, domestic violence, etc. She also assisted adults in completing court ordered counseling, mitigating concerns of parole/probation officers, and being reunified with their children.

Tiffany has experience working for Child Protective Services, training CIT mental health officers for Police Departments, and working within the court systems. She has also created and run psychoeducation groups for youth who were experiencing homelessness and at risk of sex trafficking.

What areas does Tiffany specialize in?

Tiffany specializes in trauma and crises. She has been certified as a crisis worker, as well as completed extra courses to receive a graduate-level trauma certificate.

Tiffany has had many hours of training and experience with sexual trauma and human sex trafficking. She has worked with many multicultural clients from refugees of war to those with immigration concerns.

Tiffany has an additional passion for clients who are struggling with addictions, abuse, teen issues, and LDS issues.

What techniques do I use to achieve positive mental health?

I go out of my way to smile at the little things in life. I have tried many different activities and interests to find what brings joy and peace to my life. I have learned that coping skills and distractions don’t have to be boring but can be fun and sometimes challenging. I also schedule weekly breaks and family time to give myself the rest I need to work hard through the rest of the week.

What are Tiffany’s hobbies and interests?

I have many and very different interests from hiking the mountains and swimming in the ocean, to seeing plays or enjoying card games with my family. I enjoy listening to music very much and have often asked my clients to show me their favorite music or a movie that helps me to better understand them.

Fun fact- I was an extra in the movie Napoleon Dynamite. And I sat next to Napoleon’s girlfriend, Deb, during the auditorium dance scene!

What is Tiffany’s therapeutic approach?

My therapeutic philosophy is that life is hard, but no one has to go through it alone. I have experienced major difficulties in life both personally and professionally. And as a result, I do not shy away when others have experienced “ugly” or difficult times. I am ready to listen to it all.

One value I hold is the freedom of choice over one’s own life. I enjoy working with clients as a team to assess their needs and goals- while identifying steps to assist them in achieving their desired successes. I show patience, while consistently cheering my clients on as they take the needed steps toward their chosen future.
