What led Hannah to their career in counseling?

Hannah completed her bachelor’s degree in social work at Weber State University and went on to obtain her master’s degree in social work with a specialization in mental health at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Hannah knew she wanted to become a therapist early in her college career. She enjoys helping others, supporting them, and providing them with compassion.

What work experience and populations does Hannah serve?

Hannah has experience working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as providing both group and individual therapy. During her master’s degree, Hannah worked at an outpatient community mental health clinic in Chicago, Illinois. This internship provided her with experience working with at-risk populations and clients with various diagnoses. She has previously worked in an inpatient psychiatric setting but ultimately found a love for outpatient therapy.

Hannah enjoys working with teens and young adults, specifically those who are struggling with eating disorders, an unhealthy relationship with food, body image, self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. Hannah is LGBTQIA+ affirming and her office is a safe space.

What areas does Hannah specialize in?

Hannah specializes in working with adolescents and young adults who are women and/or non-binary. She is a certified eating disorder specialist and enjoys working with clients struggling with various types of eating disorders, who have an unhealthy relationship with food and their bodies, as well as those struggling with self-esteem and self-compassion. Hannah also enjoys working with those struggling with anxiety, and depression, and adjusting to various life circumstances.

What techniques do I use to achieve positive mental health:

To maintain my own positive mental health, I surround myself with people I love and those who lift me up. I practice mindfulness and try to create a healthy work-life balance. Volunteering each week is something that fills my cup and I’m sure to incorporate it regularly. There are days that I struggle; that’s human nature. But I try to be self-aware and reach out for help when I need it.

My hobbies, interests, and fun facts about me:

I enjoy reading and learning about new things. I also like watercolor painting, hiking, spending time with friends and family, and lounging with my 4 (I know) cats. I spend a lot of time volunteering for a local cat rescue and extremely enjoy the work that I do with them. Additionally, I love to travel- Chicago is my happy place!

My therapeutic approach and philosophy:

I use a strengths-based approach with a variety of therapeutic modalities with my clients. These include but are not limited to ACT, IFS (parts work), Narrative, and DBT. I strive to tailor each client’s experience to their unique needs. My clients will be met with unconditional positive regard and compassion.
